Two Storms in
|a Single Spring|

Boise took two documented severe weather events in a single spring recently, and plenty of roofs in this city are carrying damage from them that nobody has looked at.

Peak Roofing is an owner-operated roofing contractor working across Boise and Ada County. The company goes back to 2017, grown almost entirely on word of mouth. The reputation predated Mike, and he took it on knowing that. He arrived with more than a decade of hands-on roofing behind him.

We inspect, we photograph, and we give you an honest account of what is there. Sometimes that means your roof came through fine. Read our story

After a Storm: |What to Do First|

Start at ground level

A perimeter walk tells you a lot. Look at the eaves for granules and across the yard for shingles, and take pictures.

Record when it happened

Insurers work from a date of loss, so write it down while it is fresh.

Boise had two documented severe events in one spring, so there may be two dates to work from.

Book an inspection

We get on the roof, photograph anything worth flagging, and hand you a written condition report.

Active water is a phone call (208) 724-9315

Not a contact form. We move leak calls up the list. Monday to Saturday, 7am to 6pm.

What Storm
|Damage Looks Like|

Boise was named directly in a June severe warning that mentioned roof damage.

Gone from the edges first

Rakes and eaves lose shingles before the middle of a roof does, which is why damage often sits on one slope you cannot see.

Bruises from hail

Press a hail strike and it gives, like fruit. The granules are gone and the mat underneath is damaged.

Read the gutters

Granule build-up after hail tells you the roof took hits, even if it looks untouched from below.

Read the soft metal too

Vent caps and air conditioning fins dent long before shingles do, and they show which way the storm came from.

The shingle that looks fine

Wind lifts it, folds it back, and sets it down again. The mat inside is broken and the seal will never re-bond. This is the damage people miss. IMG 2 and 3: creased shingle close-up, hail bruising with granule loss.

Insurance Claims: |How We Help|

Two dates, which helps you.

Boise had two documented severe events in one season. An adjuster asking when the damage happened gets specific dates rather than a vague month, and that is a stronger starting position than most homeowners have.

What we do.

Inspect the roof, photograph the damage, produce a written report, and stand alongside you when the adjuster walks it. Then a clear scope and price for the work itself.

What we will not do.

Promise an approval, estimate a payout, push you into filing, or file on your behalf. Those are your insurer's business or yours.

Sometimes the repair sits below your deductible and a claim is pointless. We will say so. And covering or waiving a deductible is a serious problem in most places, which is why we do not do it.

Warranties
|and the Peak Promise|

Your work is backed and the shingles carry the manufacturer’s warranty. You will know what covers what before we start.

Is the short version of how we handle it when something needs attention afterwards. Read it in full.

After two documented storms in one season, plenty of Boise roofs have been worked on in a hurry. If something we did needs a second look next winter, that is a phone call rather than a negotiation.

Peak Roofing is licensed, bonded, and insured under Idaho registration #4071991.

Storm Damage
|in Boise|

The unique local block. Every fact is verified. Sources at the end.

Boise had two documented severe weather events in a single spring, and a lot of roofs here still carry the marks.

On June 26, 2026, the National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning covering central Ada County and naming Boise directly. The warning carried 60 mph gusts and hail, and it explicitly warned to expect damage to roofs, siding and trees. That’s the one worth knowing about if your ceiling started staining last summer and you never worked out why.

A month earlier, on May 28, 2026, the Boise Airport recorded a 68 mph gust during one of the strongest May wind events ever measured in this valley.

Two dated events matter for a claim. Insurers work from a date of loss, and having two specific dates on record for your city makes the conversation with an adjuster a great deal easier than “sometime last year.” If you haven’t had the roof looked at since either, that’s a free inspection worth booking.

Boise builds to a 90 mph design wind speed, which is the same standard as the 115 mph ultimate figure in the residential code. A roof built to that handles ordinary weather. What it doesn’t handle is age plus a gust at the edge of the envelope, which is exactly what a 68 mph reading represents.

Roof age changes what a storm does to you. The North End, Hyde Park and the East End along Warm Springs Avenue run to genuinely old housing, and the Bench holds a lot of mid-century stock. Southeast Boise, Barber Valley, West Boise and Columbia Village trend newer. Citywide the median home dates to around 1984. An older, more brittle shingle gives up granules and cracks under hail that a newer roof would shrug off, which is why two neighbours can come out of the same storm with different outcomes.

If the claim leads to replacement, your permit runs through City of Boise Planning and Development Services. Boise requires a permit for a residential re-roof and we pull it.

Boise Storm |Damage Questions|

Talk with Peak Roofing

Does homeowners insurance cover roof replacement in Boise?
Often, when the damage comes from a covered event like wind or hail rather than age or wear. Every policy differs and we won’t promise an outcome. We inspect, document, and help you through it.
Not always. Sometimes the repair costs less than your deductible and filing isn’t worth it. We’ll tell you when that’s the case rather than pushing you toward a claim.
No, and there’s no obligation attached. If the roof came through fine, the report will say so and that’s the end of it.

Usually you can’t tell from the ground, which is the problem. Creased shingles and hail bruising both look normal from a distance and your soft metal for dents, then have someone walk it.

Not necessarily. Most policies require prompt notice after a loss and the window varies by carrier, so check your policy. Damage doesn’t disappear, and a dated inspection report is worth having either way.
