Melba also runs its own building code, which not every town this size does. That’s worth knowing before you hire anyone.
This is a small company by choice. Peak Roofing has worked Melba since 2017, built the name on referrals, and Mike took it over bringing more than a decade on roofs with him.
We do residential work and we install asphalt. You’ll get an honest account of what’s on the roof and what your realistic options are. If a repair is enough, we’ll say so. Read our story

We measure the roof from satellite imagery and give you a real figure for it. Melba runs its own building code, so a city job here follows city rules, and we build to them.
Final scope is settled at the inspection, because decking and ventilation stay hidden until then.

Melba took the trouble to write its own building code.
A few years back the town put a three-month moratorium on building so its city attorney could draft a proper building code and subdivision ordinance. The reason, from the mayor, was that Melba had watched growth arrive fast in other valley towns and wanted its rules settled before it arrived here.
For a town of 572 people, that’s unusual, and it tells you something about the place. It also means a job inside city limits follows Melba’s own code rather than defaulting to the county. Outside the limits it’s Canyon County Development Services, whose ordinance covers repairs and alterations rather than just new construction. We confirm which applies before scheduling.
You’re higher up here than you might think. Melba sits at about 2,651 feet, which makes it the highest of the Canyon County towns we work in, a couple of hundred feet above the farm towns on the north side of the county. Idaho works out ground snow loads from elevation, so that difference isn’t cosmetic. It’s a reason to have your roof’s details looked at rather than assuming the numbers from down in the flats apply here.
We’re twelve miles away. Melba is south of Nampa, three miles up from the Snake River, and our shop is a short run north of here. Of all the outlying towns we serve, this is one of the closest. That matters mostly for the part nobody thinks about at the time: whether the company comes back when a pipe boot needs attention two winters on. Twelve miles is not a trip we’d think twice about.
The town has been here a while. Melba was founded in 1912 by Clayton C. Todd, who named it after his daughter. Homes from the early period bring older decking underneath the shingles, often board rather than sheet material, which changes how a new roof fastens down. Nobody knows what’s up there until the old roofing comes off.
And it’s still farm country. Melba calls itself the Seed Heart of America, with growers here producing seed crops for onions, carrots, peas, beans and sweet corn, along with alfalfa and clover. Most properties have more than one building on them. When we come out, tell us what’s standing and we’ll look at all of it.
Does Melba have its own building code?
Yes. The city wrote one along with a subdivision ordinance, pausing building for three months to get it done properly. Inside city limits your job follows Melba’s code. Outside them it’s Canyon County. We confirm which applies.
Do you actually come out this far?
Melba isn’t far. We’re twelve miles up the road in Nampa, which makes this one of the closer towns we work in.
Does being higher up change my roof?
Possibly. Melba is a couple hundred feet above the farm towns north of the county, and Idaho calculates snow loads from elevation. It’s a reason to have the details looked at rather than assume valley numbers apply.
What about my outbuildings?
Tell us what’s on the property and we’ll look at all of it while we’re out. You’ll get a straight read on what needs doing now and what can wait.
Can I really price my roof online without a visit?
Yes. Enter your address and we measure your roof by satellite, then show you real pricing for that roof. We confirm the final scope at the inspection, because decking and ventilation aren’t visible from above.
