A City That Went |Up All at Once|

Peak Roofing is an owner-operated roofing contractor working in Meridian and Ada County. The company was founded in 2017 and built its name on word of mouth. It was already a trusted name here when Mike took it over. He brought more than 10 years of hands-on experience with him.

Meridian is a different roofing market than most of the valley. Most homes here went up in the last twenty years, which means a lot of roofs are the same age and reaching the same point at the same time.

We’re residential roofers and we install asphalt shingles. You’ll get an honest read on your roof and your options, in words that make sense. A repair counts as an option. Read our story

One address, about a minute, and a real number back.

The measurement comes from satellite imagery of your own roof. Squares, pitch and layout all get read off it. Since most of Meridian went up in the 2000s, the roofs are broadly similar, but yours still gets measured rather than assumed.

Decking and ventilation stay hidden until someone is up there, so we confirm the scope at the inspection.

You can see it as a monthly payment as well.

The unique local block. Every fact is verified. Sources at the end.

Meridian is the newest city in the valley, and that changes the roofing conversation here.

The median Meridian home was built around 2007. Close to a third of the housing stock went up between 2000 and 2009, and another third between 2010 and 2019. The city grew from about 35,000 people in 2000 to roughly 143,000 by 2025. Almost all of that arrived as new construction.

Here’s why that matters for your roof. A builder-grade architectural shingle is commonly rated for 20 to 30 years, and the real-world number in our climate sits at the lower end of that. Which means a whole generation of Meridian roofs went on at once and is arriving at the same decision point at the same time. If your house went up in the 2000s, you’re likely on the original roof, and it’s getting close.

That also explains something homeowners notice here. When one house on the street gets a new roof, several usually follow within a year or two. They were all built together.

Newer homes bring one more thing worth knowing. Meridian builds to Climate Zone 5B energy requirements, with a blower door test and an R-49 attic insulation minimum. A well-sealed, heavily insulated attic is good for your power bill, and it makes ventilation more important rather than less. Air that can’t move sits against the underside of the deck, and shingles age from below where you can’t see it.

Weather and code. Ada County builds to a 20 psf ground snow load and a 25 psf minimum roof snow load, with a 90 mph design wind speed. Written the other way, that’s the 115 mph ultimate speed in the residential code. Ice barrier underlayment isn’t required here, because the valley has no real history of ice damming. The valley averages well over a hundred freezing nights a year, and that freeze and thaw cycle works at flashing and pipe boots long before it touches the shingle field. On May 28, 2026, a 61 mph gust was recorded near Meridian during one of the strongest May wind events on record here.

Permits. Your permit runs through City of Meridian Building Services, part of the Community Development Department. Re-roofs show up in the city’s published weekly permit reports, so it’s a routine, tracked process. We pull it, so you’re not chasing paperwork.

Where we work. North Meridian above McMillan, South Meridian below the interstate, and everything through the older center of town. The center holds the small pocket of genuinely older housing here, and those roofs behave differently than the subdivisions around them.

Meridian |Roofing Questions|

Talk with Peak Roofing

Can I really price my roof online without a visit?
Yes. Enter your address and we measure your roof by satellite, then show you real pricing for that roof. We confirm the final scope at the inspection, because decking and ventilation aren’t visible from above. No one calls you unless you want us to.

Yes. Residential re-roofs require a permit through City of Meridian Building Services. We pull it as part of the job.

Possibly. Most homes from that period are still on their original roof, and builder-grade architectural shingles in our climate tend to land at the lower end of the 20 to 30 year range. A free inspection will tell you where yours actually sits rather than guessing from the build year.

Both. Plenty of Meridian roofs need a repair rather than a replacement, and we’d rather do the repair and earn the bigger job later. Repair estimates are free.

Most Meridian homes are a one-day tear-off and install. Larger or steeper roofs run into a second day. Weather can move the schedule, and we’ll tell you what to expect before we start.
