Thin Metal Takes
|the Hit First|
We do gutters as roofers rather than as a separate speciality. The roof edge, the drip edge, the fascia and the gutter all meet at the same three inches, and when a roofer and a gutter company blame each other, you’re the one standing in the wet.
Peak Roofing is an owner-operated company working across Kuna and Ada County. Peak Roofing started in 2017 and grew on referrals rather than advertising. Mike inherited a reputation rather than building one from nothing. He’d spent over ten years doing the work before he owned any of it.
In Kuna there’s a further reason to look at both together, and it has to do with what the weather here does.
Why Gutters
|Matter in Kuna|
Thin metal takes the hit
Aluminium dents where a shingle only bruises. A hailstone that leaves a mark you have to feel for on the roof leaves a visible one in a gutter or a downspout.
Wind works the front lip
A gust gets underneath and lifts. On a long run with widely spaced hangers there is real leverage available, and 72 mph was recorded a few miles from town.
And winter still does its part
Between storms, ice loads the same fixings all season, which is why a run that survived the wind can come down in February.
Gutter Services for |Kuna Homes|
Gutter guards
Guards reduce how often gutters need clearing. They don't eliminate it, and we'd rather set that expectation properly up front. Ask us and we'll give you a straight answer, including when the answer is that you don't need them.
Storm damage repair and replacement
Dented runs, downspouts knocked loose, sections pulled off by wind. We document what we find in case it's part of a claim.
Gutter repair
Leaking corners and outlets, pulled hangers, blocked downspouts, and water running behind the gutter instead of into it.
Installation and replacement
When a system is past patching, meaning sagging between hangers, split seams, or gutters pulling off the fascia.
Gutter cleaning
We clear gutters and downspouts and check hangers and seams while we're up there, which most cleaning services skip. Design note: no guard product named, no performance percentage, pending confirmation. Storm damage leads the module on this page on purpose.
Doing Gutters With Your Roof
If a storm has the roof coming off anyway, the gutters should be assessed in the same visit.
When the roof is being redone, that is the point to decide about gutters.
One visit, one setup, one crew. When the roof edge is already open, adding the gutters costs a fraction of what a separate call-out would, and the transition gets built properly in one go.
If a storm has done enough that the roof is being replaced, the gutters are worth assessing in the same visit rather than later.
Warranties and the |Peak Promise|
- The Peak Promise.
We aim to get your roof right the first time. Once in a while a job hits a bump. What matters is that your roofer stands behind the work. If something needs attention after we’re done, you call us and we take care of it. That’s the promise we stand behind on every job.
If a run we refixed lifts again in the next blow, you call us and we deal with it.

The unique local block. Every fact is verified. Sources at the end.
Everywhere else, we look at your gutters to work out what happened to your roof. In Kuna, the gutters are often damaged themselves.
Two documented severe events came through here in a single season. On May 28, 2026 a 72 mph gust was recorded about four miles east of town, the strongest reading logged anywhere in the valley that day. Four weeks later, on June 26, the National Weather Service named Kuna in a severe warning carrying hail and 60 mph gusts.
Hail hits gutters harder than it hits shingles. Aluminium is thin and soft. A hailstone that leaves a bruise you have to press for on a shingle leaves a visible dent in a gutter, a downspout, or a vent cap. That’s why an inspector checks the soft metal before climbing anything.
But the dents aren’t only a clue. A gutter with enough of them, or with the front lip creased, isn’t performing the way it should, and it isn’t going to look right for the next twenty years either.
And that matters for a practical reason. Gutters are generally treated as part of the dwelling rather than as something separate, so damage to them is often within the scope of a claim rather than outside it. We’re not going to tell you what your policy covers, because that’s your adjuster’s call and not ours. What we will do is document the gutters properly alongside the roof, so nobody has to argue later about something nobody photographed.
If your roof was assessed after either storm and the gutters weren’t, that’s worth revisiting.
Wind does something different, and Kuna gets the most of it.
At 72 mph, wind gets underneath the front lip of a gutter and lifts. On a long unbroken run with hangers spread out, there’s a lot of leverage available. What you see afterwards is a section standing slightly proud of the fascia, or a run that’s fine at both ends and lifted in the middle, or a downspout that’s parted at a joint.
Kuna sits at about 2,802 feet, one of the higher and more open spots among the valley cities, with little between here and the weather. Hanger spacing matters more on an exposed elevation than it does on a sheltered street, and it’s one of the things we look at rather than assume.
Winter still does its own work. Ice in a run is heavy, and over a valley winter of more than a hundred freezing nights that weight opens corners and pulls hangers. Most Kuna homes date from around 2008, so the systems here are old enough to have taken a few of those winters, and now a couple of serious storms on top.
My gutters are dented. Does that matter?
Would gutter damage be part of an insurance claim?
My roof was inspected after the storms but nobody mentioned the gutters. Should I worry?
One section of gutter is standing away from the house. Why just that bit?
