Not Named Is Not
the Same as Not Hit

If you’ve been assuming your roof came through the last couple of storm seasons untouched, it’s worth reading the first section below before you settle on that.

Peak Roofing is an owner-operated roofing contractor working across Eagle and Ada County. Peak Roofing started in 2017 and grew on referrals rather than advertising. Mike inherited a reputation rather than building one from nothing. He’d spent over ten years doing the work before he owned any of it.

Inspection, photographs, and a straight description of the condition. Sometimes that does mean your roof is fine. Read our story

After a Storm:
What to Do First

Find out whether your address is city or county now, rather than mid-claim.

Book an inspection

We get on the roof, photograph anything worth flagging, and hand you a written condition report.

Active water is a phone call (208) 724-9315

Not a contact form. We move leak calls up the list. Monday to Saturday, 7am to 6pm.

Start at ground level

A perimeter walk tells you a lot. Look at the eaves for granules and across the yard for shingles, and take pictures.

Record when it happened

Insurers work from a date of loss, so write it down while it is fresh.

What Storm
Damage Looks Like

Eagle wasn’t named in the last severe warning, and that tells you nothing about your roof.

Read the gutters

Granule build-up after hail tells you the roof took hits, even if it looks untouched from below.

Read the soft metal too

Vent caps and air conditioning fins dent long before shingles do, and they show which way the storm came from.

The shingle that looks fine

Wind lifts it, folds it back, and sets it down again. The mat inside is broken and the seal will never re-bond. This is the damage people miss.

Gone from the edges first

Rakes and eaves lose shingles before the middle of a roof does, which is why damage often sits on one slope you cannot see.

Bruises from hail

Press a hail strike and it gives, like fruit. The granules are gone and the mat underneath is damaged.

Insurance Claims:
How We Help

There may be two routes here, not one.

On a Star roof under ten years old, damage might be a storm claim or it might be a workmanship issue still covered by your builder or the manufacturer. Which one applies changes who you should be talking to.

Telling them apart is the inspection's job.

Weather damage follows the storm, directional and concentrated on exposed slopes. Installation problems follow the work, often along one course or around a single detail. We will tell you which we see, and sometimes that means pointing you at your builder rather than your insurer.

On the insurance side

we inspect, photograph, report, and attend the adjuster visit. We do not promise approvals, estimate payouts, or file on your behalf.

A repair under your deductible is not worth claiming, and we will say so. Deductible waiving is a serious problem in most places and we do not do it.

Warranties
and the Peak Promise

Our work is backed and your shingles carry manufacturer cover. You will know where you stand before we begin.

Is what we do if something needs attention afterwards. Read it in full.

Whichever authority permits your address, city or county, the backing on the work is identical. The paperwork route changes. What we stand behind does not.

Peak Roofing is licensed, bonded, and insured under Idaho registration #4071991.

Storm Damage

The unique local block. Every fact is verified. Sources at the end.

Your town not being named in a storm warning doesn’t mean your roof was spared.

This catches people out, and it’s worth understanding. When the National Weather Service issues a severe thunderstorm warning, it draws a polygon over the area at risk and then lists some locations inside it. That list is a sample, not a register. It exists so people can recognise roughly where the warning applies, and it names the places most people will know.

Eagle wasn’t on that list in the summer of 2026. Neither was every other town under the same polygon. Plenty of homeowners here will have read a warning naming other Ada County towns and reasonably assumed it wasn’t about them.

The same goes for gust readings. The May 28, 2026 event was one of the strongest May wind storms ever measured in this valley, with gusts into the seventies recorded across the area. Those readings came from wherever the instruments happened to be. A weather station is not the same thing as your street.

So if your reasoning has been that nobody mentioned Eagle, that isn’t reasoning. Get the roof looked at, or don’t, but base it on the roof.

Know which authority covers your address before you need to.

Eagle has a genuine quirk. A lot of homes with an Eagle mailing address sit outside city limits on unincorporated Ada County land. Those permit through Ada County Development Services rather than the City of Eagle Building Division, and two neighbours on the same road can be in two different systems.

That’s easy to sort out on a quiet Tuesday and annoying to sort out mid-claim, when you want a repair scheduled and an adjuster is asking questions. We establish it before anything starts, and it takes a minute.

What your roof was built to take. Eagle is Ada County, so it builds to a 20 pound per square foot ground snow load with a 25 psf minimum on the roof, and a 90 mph design wind speed, the same standard as the 115 mph ultimate figure in the residential code. Ice barrier underlayment isn’t required here, because this valley has no real history of ice damming. A sound roof handles ordinary weather comfortably. What it doesn’t handle is age plus a gust at the edge of that envelope.

Most Eagle roofs are old enough to be worth checking. The median home here was built around 2007 and the city has grown from roughly 30,000 people in 2020 toward 36,000. That puts a lot of roofs in the range where seals have had time to weaken, and a broken seal is invisible from the ground.

Eagle Storm |Damage Questions|

Talk with Peak Roofing

Do you charge for a storm inspection?
No, and there’s no obligation attached. If the roof came through fine, the report will say so.
Possibly. Weather Service warnings name a sample of locations inside a much larger area, not every town covered. Not being listed tells you nothing about your roof either way.

Usually you can’t tell from the ground. Creased shingles and hail bruising both look normal from a distance. your soft metal for dents, then have someone walk it.

Only if you’re inside city limits. Plenty of Eagle addresses are unincorporated Ada County, which permits through the county instead. We confirm which applies before anything starts.
Not always. Sometimes the repair costs less than your deductible and filing isn’t worth it. We’ll tell you when that’s the case.
