Young Roofs and |Honest Answers|

Most of what we do in Star isn’t a full replacement, and we’d rather say that up front. Star is a young town, housing-wise. The work here tends to be storm damage, leaks that shouldn’t be happening yet, and repairs.

This is a small company by choice. Peak Roofing has worked in Star since 2017, built the name on referrals, and Mike took it over bringing more than a decade on roofs with him.

We’ll get up there, show you what’s actually happening, and lay out your choices in plain language. If a repair is enough, we’ll say so. Read our story

Type in the address and stop there.

We read the roof off satellite imagery, so the number is drawn from your house. On a newer Star home the measurement is usually clean and uncomplicated, which makes the figure a good one.

That said, a price is not a diagnosis. If your roof is young enough that a repair is the right answer, the inspection will say so.

Financing is there if you need it.

We leave it clean

We sweep the property for nails, clear up, and walk the finished roof with you.

Warranties and |the Peak Promise|

We back the work, and the shingles carry their manufacturer’s warranty. Both get explained before we start rather than after. Star builds to Ada County values, and most roofs here are still well inside their rated life.
We aim to get your roof right the first time. Once in a while a job hits a bump. What matters is that your roofer stands behind the work. If something needs attention after we’re done, you call us and we take care of it. That’s the promise we stand behind on every job.

Peak Roofing is licensed, bonded, and insured under Idaho registration #4071991.

Roofing Built for |Star Homes|

The unique local block. Every fact is verified. Sources at the end.

Star is one of the newest towns in Idaho, and that shapes what a roofer is actually useful for here.

The population was 11,117 at the 2020 Census and had climbed to roughly 19,920 by 2024. Nearly double, in four years. Almost all of it arrived as new construction, which means most roofs in Star went on very recently.

So check your warranty before you pay anyone. If your home is only a few years old, the roof may still be covered by the builder or the manufacturer. That’s the first thing worth finding out, and it’s worth finding out before a contractor starts writing an estimate. We’ll tell you if we think you should be making that call instead of hiring us.

A new roof is not a problem-free roof. Two things bring us to Star homes regularly. The first is storm damage, which doesn’t care how old a roof is. On May 28, 2026, the valley saw one of its strongest May wind events on record, and wind lifts shingles at the rakes and eaves regardless of install date. The second is workmanship. A leak on a five-year-old roof almost always means a detail was missed, usually flashing at a transition or a pipe boot that wasn’t seated right. That’s a repair, not a replacement, and on a young roof that is usually the right answer.

Permits and inspections. Star runs its own building department, and a re-roof requires a permit here. Star runs a tighter schedule than some nearby cities. Inspections are booked through the city portal. Next-day slots need to be requested by 4pm the previous business day, and there are none at weekends. It’s straightforward once you plan around it, and we handle the scheduling.

The setting. Star sits at about 2,471 feet, on the Ada County side of the valley with a small portion reaching into Canyon County. Ada County builds to a 20 psf ground snow load and 25 psf minimum on the roof, with a 90 mph design wind speed, the same standard as the 115 mph ultimate figure in the code tables. The valley here is high desert, so sun and heat cycling age a shingle faster than rainfall ever will.

Star |Roofing Questions|

Talk with Peak Roofing

My house is new and the roof is leaking. Is that normal?
No, and it usually points at a missed detail rather than a worn-out roof. Flashing at a transition or a pipe boot that wasn’t seated properly are the common ones. Before you pay for anything, check whether the roof is still covered by your builder or the shingle manufacturer.

Yes. The City of Star Building Department handles it, with permits and inspections booked through the city’s online portal. Next-day inspections need to be requested by 4pm the previous business day, and there are no weekend inspections. We handle the scheduling.

Yes. Enter your address and we measure your roof by satellite, then show you real pricing for that roof. We confirm the final scope at the inspection, because decking and ventilation aren’t visible from above.
Not on age alone. What’s worth checking is whether it came through the last few wind seasons intact, since storm damage doesn’t wait for a roof to get old. A free inspection answers it in under an hour.
Yes. Star has older homes as well as new subdivisions, and replacement is most of what we do across the valley. It just isn’t what most Star homes need yet.
