Where Permits Still |Come on Paper|

Payette sits on the far west edge of the area we serve, right against the Oregon line, and there are a couple of things about roofing here that don’t apply back toward the valley. Permits work differently depending on which side of the city limits you’re on, and there’s a question worth asking any contractor who knocks on your door out here.

We are a small, owner-operated roofing company working across Payette and the rest of Payette County. Peak Roofing started in 2017 and grew on referrals. Mike took it over with more than 10 years of hands-on roofing behind him.

We do residential work and we install asphalt. We’ll tell you what the roof is doing and what can sensibly be done about it. If a repair is enough, we’ll say so. Read our story

Address in, and the measuring is ours to do.

Satellite imagery gives us square footage, pitch and layout, so the price is built on your roof. If your parcel sits outside city limits, the county permit takes about a fortnight. We start that clock at scope approval rather than later.

The inspection confirms what imagery cannot show.

Monthly options are available on qualifying replacements.

Our Roof Replacement Process

Get the number first

Your address gives you a price in about a minute.

Then we look at it properly

A free inspection covers flashing, ventilation and the transitions where leaks actually start. You get the photographs.

Everything in writing

Scope and price agreed before a single shingle moves. A county permit here takes at least two weeks and hard copy only, so we start that clock when you approve the scope.

The work itself

Old roof off, decking checked while it is open, new system on.

Cleanup you notice

Magnet sweep across the property, then a walkthrough together.

Warranties and |the Peak Promise|

Warranty-backed work, plus the manufacturer’s warranty on the shingles themselves. We go through what covers what before the project begins. Payette County publishes a 30 psf ground snow load and a 115 mph design wind speed.
We aim to get your roof right the first time. Once in a while a job hits a bump. What matters is that your roofer stands behind the work. If something needs attention after we’re done, you call us and we take care of it. That’s the promise we stand behind on every job.

Peak Roofing is licensed, bonded, and insured under Idaho registration #4071991.

Two offices handle permits here, and they don’t work the same way.

If your home is inside Payette city limits, the City of Payette has its own building department. If you’re outside them, it’s Payette County, and that process is a good deal more formal. The county takes applications in hard copy only, states plainly that emailed applications won’t be accepted, and asks for a minimum of two weeks to review.

That’s not a complaint, it’s a scheduling fact. It means a county job needs starting earlier than a city one, and it’s the sort of thing a contractor from out of the area gets wrong. We start that clock when you approve the scope, not after.

Payette County builds to a heavier snow load than the valley. The county publishes a 30 pound per square foot ground snow load, a 115 mph wind load, Seismic Zone C, and a 24 inch frost depth. Down in Ada County the snow figure is 20, and parts of Canyon County are 15.

What’s interesting is that Payette sits at about 2,159 feet, the lowest elevation of any town in the area we serve. Lower than Boise, lower than Nampa, lower than Emmett. It still carries a 30 psf design load. Elevation is part of what sets these numbers, but it isn’t the whole of it, and assuming a low town means a light load is how people get it wrong.

One question worth asking any roofer out here. Payette is a border town. It’s part of the Ontario, Oregon area more than the Boise metro, and contractors work across that line in both directions. Idaho requires anyone doing work on your property to be registered with the state, and a building department won’t issue a permit without that documentation.

So ask for the number. Ours is Idaho registration #4071991, and you’re welcome to look it up before you call us.

The town itself is old. Payette started as a railroad camp at the mouth of the Payette River in the 1880s, and its downtown still has buildings from 1908 and 1912 in use. Older homes come with older decking and detail work from several generations of roofers, which is exactly why the tear-off matters. You don’t know what’s under a roof until it’s off.

Talk with Peak Roofing

Who issues my roofing permit in Payette?
The City of Payette if you’re inside city limits, Payette County if you’re outside them. We confirm which applies to your address and handle it either way.
Payette County takes applications in hard copy rather than by email and asks for at least two weeks to review them. That’s their process, and it just means starting earlier. We factor it into the schedule rather than letting it surprise you.
Ask for their Idaho registration number and look it up. It matters more here than most places, since Payette sits on the Oregon line and contractors work both sides. Ours is #4071991.
Yes. Enter your address and we measure your roof by satellite, then show you real pricing for that roof. We confirm the final scope at the inspection, because decking and ventilation aren’t visible from above.

Both. On an older Payette home a repair is often the right answer, and we’d rather do the repair and earn the bigger job later. Repair estimates are free.
