Working the Windiest |Corner of the Valley|

Kuna sits at the open, higher edge of the valley, and the weather here reflects that. If you’ve watched a spring storm come through and wondered what it did to your roof, that instinct is a sound one.

Owner-operated, based in the valley, working Kuna and the rest of Ada County. Peak Roofing dates to 2017 and grew on word of mouth. Mike took it on with more than 10 years of hands-on roofing behind him.

We do residential work and we install asphalt. We’ll look at your roof, tell you what we find, and explain your options in plain terms. If a repair is enough, we’ll say so.

Address first, and that is your part done.

The measurement comes off satellite imagery, so square footage and pitch are taken from your roof. You can also compare shingle lines, which is worth doing here given what the wind does.

Decking and ventilation are not visible from above, so scope gets confirmed on the roof itself.

Qualifying replacements can run at zero percent for up to 24 months.

The unique local block. Every fact is verified. Sources at the end.

Kuna is a wind country, and we have the readings to prove it.

On May 28, 2026, a gust of 72 mph was recorded about four miles east of Kuna, at ten to four in the afternoon. It was among the strongest gusts ever measured in this valley during a May storm, with sustained winds running around 45 mph. Four weeks later, on June 26, the National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning covering Kuna, with 60 mph gusts and hail, and warned to expect damage to roofs and siding.

Two severe wind events, in one spring, both documented.

What that does to a roof. Wind doesn’t peel a roof off from the middle. It gets under the edges, so rakes and eaves go first. And the damage that matters most isn’t the shingle that blew into your yard, it’s the one that lifted, folded, and dropped back down looking normal. That crease breaks the mat inside the shingle, and the sealant strip underneath won’t bond again. It sits there looking fine until the next storm takes it.

That’s why a Kuna roof can pass a look from the driveway and still be compromised.

It’s also worth thinking about at replacement time. If you’re choosing shingles here, wind rating is worth more attention than it gets in a flatter, calmer market. Architectural shingles grip better than three-tab because of how they’re layered. Class 4 impact-resistant lines add hail resistance on top of that, and some insurers offer a premium discount for them, though that varies by carrier so ask your agent. Compare materials

The setting and the code. Kuna sits at about 2,802 feet, one of the higher spots among the valley cities. It’s Ada County, so it builds to a 20 psf ground snow load with a 25 psf minimum on the roof, and a 90 mph design wind speed, which is the same standard as the 115 mph ultimate figure in the code tables. Permits go through the City of Kuna building department under the city’s building code.

The housing. Kuna has grown from about 24,000 people in 2020 to roughly 31,500 by 2025, with a median build year around 2008. A lot of Kuna roofs are young. Being young didn’t exempt any of them from that May storm.

Kuna |Roofing Questions|

Talk with Peak Roofing

My roof looks fine after the wind. Should I still have it checked?
Probably. The damage that matters most after a wind event is a shingle that is lifted and dropped back into place. It looks normal and its seal is broken. You can’t see that from the ground, and a free inspection takes under an hour.
Yes. The City of Kuna handles building permits under its own building code. We pull it as part of the job, so it isn’t something you handle.
It’s exposed, and the readings back that up. The strongest gust from the May 2026 storm was recorded a few miles east of town, and the Weather Service named Kuna in a severe warning again a month later.
Yes. Enter your address and we measure your roof by satellite, then show you real pricing for that roof. We confirm the final scope at the inspection, because decking and ventilation aren’t visible from above.

Both. Wind damage in particular is often a repair rather than a replacement, especially on a newer roof. Repair estimates are free.
