Three Authorities, |One Job|

Notus is small, old, and has one wrinkle in it that catches contractors from out of the area. There are three separate authorities that can have a say in a job here, and knowing which one to call is most of the work.

Peak Roofing works across Notus and the wider county as a small, owner-operated company. It started in 2017, grew on referrals, and Mike took it on with more than 10 years of hands-on roofing behind him.

We do residential work and we install asphalt. You’ll get an honest account of what’s on the roof and what your realistic options are. If a repair is enough, we’ll say so. Read our story

The roof gets measured from satellite imagery, so the price rests on your square footage rather than an average. What the tool cannot plan is where the skip goes, and out here that involves the highway district as well as the city. We handle it.

The inspection settles decking condition and ventilation.

Warranties and |the Peak Promise|

Your roofing system comes with manufacturer warranty on the materials and our own backing on the work. We explain both up front. Canyon County design values apply, and the county ordinance covers repairs as well as new work.

We aim to get your roof right the first time. Once in a while a job hits a bump. What matters is that your roofer stands behind the work. If something needs attention after we’re done, you call us and we take care of it. That’s the promise we stand behind on every job.

Peak Roofing is licensed, bonded, and insured under Idaho registration #4071991.

The unique local block. Every fact is verified. Sources at the end.

Around here, the road isn’t the city’s.

Notus sits in the Notus-Parma Highway District No. 2. Idaho highway districts are their own local authority, separate from the city and separate from the county, and they control the road right-of-way. Most homeowners have never heard of one. Plenty of contractors haven’t either.

For a roof, this comes up in one very practical way. A tear-off produces a lot of material, and it has to go somewhere. If a dumpster or a truck needs to sit in the road right-of-way rather than on your property, that’s the highway district’s decision, not city hall’s. Getting it wrong means a call you didn’t want on the morning of the job.

We plan the dumpster before the crew arrives, and if it needs to sit off your property we sort the approval rather than parking it and hoping.

Three authorities, one address. Between the city, Canyon County, and the highway district, working out who signs off on what is genuinely the fiddly part of a Notus job. The county’s own building ordinance is broad, covering repairs and alterations rather than just new construction. We confirm all of it before we schedule anything.

The town is older than it looks. Notus was platted in 1904 and incorporated in 1921. It has a school, a library, a park, a museum out on the highway, and about 609 people, which is up from 531 a decade earlier. Homes from that original period bring older decking underneath the shingles, often board rather than sheet material, and that changes how a new roof fastens. You don’t find out until the old roofing is off, which is why we tell you what we find rather than quoting around it.

What actually wears a roof out here. Notus sits at about 2,323 feet in open farm country. This is high desert, so the sun does the damage. Granules go first, the asphalt underneath stiffens, and the roof turns brittle well before any storm gets blamed for it. Wind is the other one, and there’s little between here and the Oregon line to slow it. It lifts shingles at the rakes and eaves, where nobody looks.

Notus |Roofing Questions|

Talk with Peak Roofing

What's a highway district and why does it matter for my roof?

It’s a separate local authority that controls the road right-of-way, independent of the city and county. Notus is in Notus-Parma Highway District No. 2. It matters because if a dumpster or truck needs to sit in the road rather than on your property, that’s their call. We handle it.

On your property wherever there’s room, which out here there usually is. If it has to sit in the right-of-way we arrange that in advance rather than on the day.

The city or Canyon County Development Services depending on your parcel. The county ordinance covers repairs and alterations, not just new buildings, so a re-roof is generally permitted work. We confirm and pull it.

It can. Homes from the town’s early period often have board decking with gaps rather than solid sheet material, and sometimes that needs a layer added before new shingles. We’ll know once the old roof is off.

Yes. Enter your address and we measure your roof by satellite, then show you real pricing for that roof. We confirm the final scope at the inspection, because decking and ventilation aren’t visible from above.
